69th Stop - Snyder, TX

Stay: November 14, 2025



We left the Alpaca Farm and started our journey deep into Texas. It was pretty hot and sunny, so we came up with a creative window shade for the kids.



Since we didn't really have an adventure planned beyond a couple of long driving days, we broke up the monotony by stopping in Lubbock, TX at the Science Spectrum science center.  It was a pretty cool place.  We wished we had some more time to explore, but we only had a couple of hours.  



They had multiple floors with different themes across.  The sports area was one of our favorite, where you had to jump and see how high your vertical was by smacking a basketball.  D loved the hot air balloon ride. 


Gary was determined to build this archway, but alas, he was thwarted every time haha. 

We pulled into our campground in Snyder, TX at Country View RV.  We pulled in just as the sun was setting.  We set up and rested for the night before our next driving day.

Starting in 2020, my brothers have planned a backpacking trip each summer to get away from the busy hubbub and reconnect with each other and with Mother Nature. 49th Stop - Seal Rock, OR

Blog Post #60 - Written April 8, 2026 Stay: September 7-10, 2025 I think if we had to pick a favorite place that we'd happily vacation at again and again, Seal Rock might be it. The seals were great, but the tide pools were the show-stoppers! It's amazing how much life you can find and how much enjoyment you can get when you slow down and take your time to observe and explore. Z made sure we explored the tide pools every morning and every evening, and we found new, amazing things each time! Our campground was along HWY 1 and a short walk across the street to the cove / beach.  Our campsite was atop the cliff, so we had amazing views of the gorgeous sunsets.   After setting up, we just had to go to the beach, so we hiked down the staircase along the cliffside and found a naturalist's paradise.  Low tide revealed hundreds of sea stars and millions of sea anemone.   These orange and purple Ochre sea stars are the most common. My wife, Megan, and I are embarking on a 12-15 month (we think) adventure around these United States with our 3 young children: Z - 6 yo, Q - 4 yo, D - almost 2 yo.
