71st Stop - Dinosaur Valley (Glen Rose, TX)

Stay: November 18-20, 2025


We didn't travel far to our next stop.  But how could anyone resist a trip to Dinosaur Valley State Park!

We stayed at Dinosaur Valley RV Park, just a short drive/slightly longer bike ride into the state park itself.  The kids loved riding the path into the park, as we had to pass some legendary guardians to there. 


The first area we discovered was a lovely and cool river, full of clay.  The kids wanted to swim, but we were not quite prepared for a swim.  So they stripped down and jumped into the water.  Unfortunately, some of those pictures are not quite appropriate for the blog, but trust me that there was an adorable butt-naked toddler swimming around, trying to collect clay and find fish.


We did have fun making clay creations that we "left to dry" along the creek bed. 



The part of the park we were really excited to find was the riverbed full of REAL DINOSAUR TRACKS!!!  There were dozens of footprints from various species of dinosaurs.  


The impressions were left in that same clay and left to harden for us to enjoy and marvel over, millions of years later.  








You should've seen Gary :)   He was like a kid in a candy store, where all the candy is free! He was so excited to find such amazing, up close and personal evidence of the dinosaurs.

We also enjoyed exfoliating fish foot scrubs.  Very nice and a completely free spa treatment.  


Gary and the kids enjoyed swimming to find some deeper footprints.  And pretending to be dinosaurs themselves!


And you just have to enjoy the adorableness of this sweet girl hiking with her new big-girl hair-do!

49th Stop - Seal Rock, OR

Blog Post #60 - Written April 8, 2026 Stay: September 7-10, 2025 I think if we had to pick a favorite place that we'd happily vacation at again and again, Seal Rock might be it. The seals were great, but the tide pools were the show-stoppers! It's amazing how much life you can find and how much enjoyment you can get when you slow down and take your time to observe and explore. Z made sure we explored the tide pools every morning and every evening, and we found new, amazing things each time! Our campground was along HWY 1 and a short walk across the street to the cove / beach.  Our campsite was atop the cliff, so we had amazing views of the gorgeous sunsets.   After setting up, we just had to go to the beach, so we hiked down the staircase along the cliffside and found a naturalist's paradise.  Low tide revealed hundreds of sea stars and millions of sea anemone.   These orange and purple Ochre sea stars are the most common.
